Dishonesty on a NY employment application could be fatal

I’m Jonas Urba, a New York employment lawyer here with Employment Law Reality Check. How important is it for you to be honest on your employment application? The short answer is “very important.” Because if you’re not honest that could bar you from most claims you might bring against your employer. But there are some exceptions. For example, if you have a wage claim, you’ve been misclassified, not paid overtime, not paid wages, you may still be able to recover. Call some employment lawyers, call me, I’m Jonas Urba, I serve the entire state of New York and I can be reached at (212) 731-4776. Attorney Advertising.

The Unclean Hands Doctrine may bar other claims an employee might have. Employers may prioritize dishonestly completed employment applicants for reductions in force in the future. Promotions and other benefits may be denied. It’s a terrible practice to be untruthful.
